The Online Instructional Guide aims to improve digital competences and facilitate interaction with virtual learning environments for adult teachers, counsellors, and guidance professionals by providing a simple and easy to apply guide for anyone with no prior knowledge on how to create and deliver an e-learning course.

e-Learning brings multiple benefits to both learners and training providers, such as flexibility of time and location (tailored to learners‘ and teachers’ personal and work schedules and circumstances), lower costs, wider reach, multilingual channels and self-paced learning, among others. e-Learning also offers unique opportunities for education at all levels, especially in remote and developing areas facing challenges related to transport, lack of educational infrastructure, expertise and research facilities. e-Learning can fill these gaps with considerably less means and in less time.

The Guide will take adult teachers, counsellors, and guidance professionals through six simple steps for the design, development and delivery of e-Learning courses:

  • Step 1. Define the course’s objectives and structure
  • Step 2. Define the resources needed
  • Step 3. Content development
  • Step 4. Add assessments and knowledge checks
  • Step 5. Upload course content to the e-Learning platform
  • Step 6. Course delivery and evaluation
